SUCCESSFUL TECHNOLOGIES
Preparations for a new planting campaign start with several challenges, both in the context of resource prices and increasingly difficult climatic conditions for crop production.
Any work done incorrectly or without meeting the optimal deadline affects the future harvest.
In this regard, the company "Imexagro" over the past week organized a series of seminars in different regions of the country, which provided valuable advice on growing rapeseed and winter wheat crops.
In total, more than 250 farmers from the country took part in the seminars.
“A new season is about to begin, a season with challenges of a different order that we have to face. In this context, we respected Imexagro's tradition of organizing workshops to help farmers start the new agricultural year in a safer way. During the events, we present novelties that have appeared on the market, share our experience from the fields, and also answer questions from producers in order to minimize the impact of negative factors on the harvest. We have novelties and a very good team of specialists, so we can answer any question related to the protection or fertilization of crops,” said Vasile Makari, Imexagro Marketing and Sales Director.
Increased attention was paid to new crop protection products, as well as high-performance fertilizers that provide plant nutrition for a longer period of time.
Gennady Kovalev, marketing specialist of the company, spoke in detail about the technology of rapeseed and winter wheat cultivation, presenting the most common mistakes and recommendations on how to avoid them.
“One of the most important aspects of caring for crops is timely intervention by carrying out the necessary work. Sometimes, by analyzing the current conditions in the field, farmers avoid certain treatments or apply them at lower doses than recommended. As a result, if some technological elements are excluded or incorrectly performed, we have crop losses.
This year, after analyzing the fields, we can say that in most cases the fungicide treatment required during the flowering phenophase or after flowering was not carried out. It is clear that the conditions in the field greatly affect the harvest, but let's not forget that without our participation we will not get the desired results,” said Gennady Kovalev.
For the rapeseed crop, the expert named the following agrotechnical aspects, which are often neglected:
1. poor-quality soil preparation, uneven seed bed - unevenly sprouted plants that have passed the optimal phase or are underdeveloped do not overwinter properly;
2. too deep placement of seeds - it is more difficult for plants to germinate, the parcel spreads out, the chances of overwintering are reduced (optimally 2-3 cm);
3. poor incorporation of straw, residues of the previous crop - rapeseed seedlings growing in such soil are stretched out and develop unevenly. Straw consumes more nitrogen and moisture for decomposition;
4. Exceeding the norm of seeds - too thick a crop does not overwinter well, and it does not sprout well in spring. The stems are thin and can curl. Recommended for hybrids: 40 to 60 pcs/m², varieties: 80 to 100 pcs/m²;
5) violation of sowing dates - rapeseed is sown 95-110 days before the start of the frost period, i.e. in the 2nd-3rd decade of August;
6. excessive application of nitrogen fertilizers in autumn - plants grow excessively, winter poorly;
7. ineffective weed control:
Before emergence (BBCH 00) herbicide Tornado 500 is recommended.
● In the 4-5 leaf phase (BBCH 14-15): Global + Bioton.
● Growing season (BBCH 10-50): Galion + Bioton, or Galion + Estoc + Bioton, then Miura, Panthera then Slash (Spring: BBCH 30-50).
8. Pest control:
● from cruciferous fleas - the Orpheus disinfectant, insecticides Break, Senpai, Sumi-alpha are recommended.
● rapeseed sawfly, rapeseed stem weevil, legume mosquito - Organza.
● Flower beetle - Vamp.
● cabbage moth - Organza, Delegate, emamectin benzoate.
In the assortment of the company for the new season, rapeseed hybrids are available: PT 303, PT 298, PT 275, PT 264, PT 200 CL.
For wheat crops, the following recommendations were given:
9. Mandatory seed treatment. In this sense, the following products were recommended: Diamond Elite, a systemic fungicide with three active ingredients that controls a wide range of diseases both inside seeds and in the soil; Oplot Trio is a three-component systemic drug containing strobilurin with a growth-stimulating effect; Orpheus is a systemic insecticide for seed treatment.
10. Timely weed control in the autumn period in wheat crops, Imexagro experts recommend using drugs in the phenophase ВВСН 12-21, and weeds have 2-3 leaves. Portfolio herbicides: Status Grand, Plugger, Citadel.
In the autumn period, treatments to protect the crop from diseases cannot be neglected; it is recommended to use drugs such as Oscar Pro fungicide.
The producers present at the event noted that well-organized seminars make a special contribution to the correct growth of crops, and highly appreciated the participation of Imexagro specialists in this regard.
“We must constantly learn, learn new things in the industry, so seminars are welcome. In total, we grow wheat and rapeseed on about 1000 hectares, so it is very important to adapt the production to the requirements of the weather, especially given the situation of the current year.
